TIFFIN, Ohio — Aaron Jones, a U.S. Army veteran, factory supervisor, and Tiffin City Councilman, announced today that he is running for State Representative in Ohio’s 88th House District, which includes all of Seneca and Sandusky counties.

Jones said he is entering the race to represent working families who feel increasingly squeezed by rising costs, stagnant wages, and political decisions made in Columbus that put politics ahead of practical solutions.

“For too long, families in Seneca and Sandusky counties have been working harder and getting less in return,” Jones said. “I’m running to be a voice for people who feel forgotten by Columbus — not special interests or political insiders.”

Jones has spent more than 20 years working in manufacturing and currently serves as a production supervisor at Toledo Molding & Die in Tiffin. A graduate of Clyde High School, he served four years in the U.S. Army before returning to Seneca County, where he and his wife Tracy raised their sons and are now grandparents.

Since 2024, Jones has served on Tiffin City Council representing the city’s 1st Ward, where he has focused on neighborhood safety, supporting local jobs, and ensuring residents have a direct voice in local government.

“Most politicians in Columbus have never spent a day on a factory floor,” Jones said. “I have. I know what it’s like to worry about healthcare bills, grocery prices, and whether your kids will be able to stay and build a future here. That perspective matters.”

Jones, a Democrat, said his campaign will focus on lowering everyday costs for working families, protecting and attracting good-paying local jobs, strengthening public schools by giving teachers and students the tools they need to succeed while keeping political agendas and special-interest influence out of local classrooms, improving infrastructure, and helping seniors age in place with dignity.

“I’m not running to be somebody important,” Jones added. “I’m running because working families in the 88th District deserve someone who won’t forget them once the election is over.”

Jones is expected to face incumbent State Rep. Gary Click, a Republican from Vickery, in the November general election.

The general election will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
