TIFFIN, Ohio — The Ohio Federation of Teachers (OFT) has endorsed Aaron Jones, Democratic candidate for Ohio House District 88, in his campaign to represent Seneca and Sandusky Counties.
The endorsement, announced in a June 18 letter from OFT President Melissa Cropper, cites Jones’s commitment to public schools, higher education, libraries, and the workers who staff them. OFT represents roughly 20,000 active and retired educators, higher-education faculty, librarians, and public employees across Ohio.
“We need people like you in office fighting for the working people of Ohio,” Cropper wrote in the endorsement.
Jones, a production supervisor at Toledo Molding & Die in Tiffin and a Tiffin City Council member, said the support reflects what’s at stake for the district’s schools.
“Public schools built this district — in Tiffin, Clyde, Fremont, and every town in between,” Jones said. “The people who teach our kids and keep our libraries open shouldn’t have to wonder whether their state representative is in their corner. They’ve got my word that I will be.”
A Clyde High School graduate and U.S. Army veteran, Jones spent four years with the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, the Old Guard, before returning home to Tiffin and building a more than twenty-year career on the factory floor. He has served on Tiffin City Council since 2024.
The OFT endorsement adds to a growing list of labor and veterans’ organizations backing Jones’s campaign as it heads into the general election on November 3.
Jones is not accepting corporate PAC money in the race.
